Years ago, traditional retail stores offered customers the option to purchase merchandise through a layaway plan. Customers would pay the store clerk a small deposit to hold the item. The customer would return to the store, pay the entire amount due, and then take the merchandise home. This arrangement worked well for both customer and retailer.

Today customers can go online and order merchandise but usually this requires payment upfront and there are not many LayBy solutions around. AWTN web development is about to change this with it's latest modification for the Interspire Shopping Cart System which implements a turn key LayBy solution which allows the store owner to display LayBy rates and frequencies to the end customer as well as automatic recurring billing via credit card (DPS).

With AWTN LayBy modification installed the customer pays for the merchandise in regular instalments until the store owner has received the entire amount. The online store will then send the customer the merchandise they have ordered and paid for.
